MIndfulness Walks are a great way for children to learn to meditate, notice the details in nature, and slow down the mind chatter. We will explore these elements as we mindfully move through our walk and journal our reflections.
LEARN TO MEDITATE
Walking and sitting in nature is a great way to learn meditation. Kids will be encouraged to use the senses to take in the elements of nature. We will also learn simple breathing techniques to start to become aware of learning to control the breath.
As we walk, the Kids will be encouraged to notice the details surrounding them. Noticing the details helps to focus the mind. As we focus the mind, we become more aware of the present moment.
We will take our mindfulness walks with the idea of 'no rush.' In school, after school activities and obligations, kids are often rushing from point A to point B. In this activity, we will take time to slow down. When we return to the room, kids will be given time to write reflections in their journals.
